While breastfeeding is one of the healthiest and most natural ways to feed your baby, nursing doesn't come naturally to all new mothers. That's where lactation consultants come in.

Lactation consultants are professional breastfeeding specialists trained to teach mothers how to feed their baby. They help women experiencing breastfeeding problems, such as latching difficulties, painful nursing, and low milk production. A lactation consultant also helps babies who aren't gaining enough weight.

Lactation consultants help women who want to return to work or school meet their breastfeeding goals. They're familiar with breastfeeding equipment, like breast pumps, and give breastfeeding moms tips on how to safely store expressed breast milk.

Cynthia started her career in 2013 as a Registered Nurse at the Hospital for Sick Children in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. She went on to complete her Masters of Nursing and Pediatric Nurse Practitioner certification in 2017, at the University of Toronto. She began her NP career at McMaster Children’s Hospital in Pediatric Surgery before branching out into the community in a Pediatric Office and Allergy and Immunotherapy Clinic. She is a mother to three young children and understands the stress of unknown wait times for medical advice and care. She is excited to be able to offer a family-based care model, that helps to prevent unnecessary Emergency Room and Walk-in visits. She is available for Pediatric house calls in the Halton Region and virtual care calls. #Healthcare Providers can refer here:
